Growth and Impact

Since its founding in 2013, Latter-day Saint Earth Stewardship has made a meaningful impact, with members from the Salt Lake Valley to the German countryside dedicating themselves to educating, learning, and serving their communities to foster greater care for the Earth and inspire stewardship grounded in faith and responsibility.

Latter-day Saint Earth Stewardship Founded
Latter-day Saint Earth Stewardship was founded in Provo, UT by a group of like-minded members dedicated to the Church's teaching on stewardship and creation care.
2013
Building a Comprehensive Library
Working alongside BYU students and scholars began the work of compiling a library of scriptures, talks, lectures and scholarly papers on the doctrines of earth stewardship.

LDSES East Chapter Started
Started by Merikay Smith in Washington D.C. LDSES East was the first Local Chapter started to bring members together.

Zion National Park Service Project
Our volunteers spent approximately 150 volunteer service hours, or almost two weeks of work by a paid staff person.

2018 Fall Forum with Spencer and Abby Cox
Spencer and Abby Cox spoke on shedding labels and becoming shared stewards of the earth; and the importance of connecting humans and their joy to the earth.

2019 Fall Forum with Sharon Eubank
Director of Latter-day Saint Charities, and former first counselor in the Relief Society General Presidency spoke on War, loss of farmland, decreased production due to extreme drought or other extreme weather events, salt incursions, sea level rise and more are often the result of climate change. There is often a connection between environmental degradation and forced migrations.
